EEHG 101: ECHO 7

EEHG is a new accelerator scheme with the potential to produce terahertz radiation with previously-unmatched efficiencies. Echo 7 will modulate beam density at the 7th harmonic of the laser modulation period. Two relatively small energy modulations and two dispersion sections produce the longitudinal profile. The resulting beam can be used to produce terahertz radiation for user research. The relatively straight-forward approach is currently being tested at the Next Linear Test Collider facilities here at SLAC.
